UI helps ASU think outside the box. We help ASU be creative with its resources and its programming in order to maximize its potential impact on Arizona and the world at large. Integrating students into our work is an important part of how we do this.

UI endeavors to be a model for Student Involvement. We believe in getting students involved in shaping Arizona State University. We employ anywhere from five to fifteen students at a time as office specialists, research assistants, writers, photographers, and designers. Compared to our full-time staff of 8, that is usually more than half our office.

The office gains a lot from students’ perspectives and experiences. The work we do benefits from having student input. The students who work for UI gain skills that will serve them well in a variety of jobs, ranging from business to communications to research to reporting to running an organization. Students learn how an office works and how a university works. They participate in the process of influencing an institution’s future.
